Default Suspension Question

A friend of mine bought a 05 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 2WD about the same time I got mine. Well this pass weekend was the first time I rode in his truck and the ride was much smoother than my truck. WTF? We have the same wheels and tires, and we both have the bell tech 2 inch drop shackle.

The suspension on my truck seems to be very very stiff compared to his truck. I also had a 2000 Ext Cab Silverado that rode much better than my 05. I looked under my truck yesterday afternoon and noticed that I have only 2 very thick leaf springs and 1 overload spring. I looked on the on the options sticker that was on the window and it says something about heavy duty spring package? Is this standard or do they offer another spring package?

When I bought my truck there were 2 options; the Z83 "smooth ride" and the Z85, which is supposed to be the firm ride option. I'm guessing you have the Z85, although my suspension has 2 main leaves and the overload as well. I guess the spring rates are different. I think the Z85 is an option.

I wish it were that simple for me, I don't think it is the shocks. I did do some research on Chevy's website and found that there is a trailering package which I do have. Like StrokerAce03 said these heavy duty springs in the trailering package have a different spring rate. I'm thinking about going with Hotchkis 2/4 drop and removing the hitch on my truck. I think this would give a better ride as long as I'm not sitting on the bump stops.
