Suspension Woes
I have come to the conclusion that i am out powering my 295/50/16 drag radial on the street. Im not sure if it is a weight issue or just not enough tire. I have the long bars on the truck and i have cut a 1.8x 60 ft. on the track when it was hooking good, but i didn't leave in boost because it would blow the tires.
I am going to order caltracs and i have the rancho 9 way adjustables already but my question is about tire size and quality. I want to go to a matching 17" rim that is wide(factory wheel 2" wider by a local company). Do they make a 30 or 31" slick for a 17" wheel that will benifit me. I daily drive the truck and don't want to 4 link it yet, but would like for it to at least hook on the street and the track.
I know this has been beat to death but every set up is different so guys post up your opinions on this set up, esp if you are a ext cab and hooking fairly well with 450-500 rwhp.
Thanks,
Chris

Chris, think it could be that you just weren't getting the tires hot enough? Pavement was pretty cold. The lightning and all the f-bodies were doing a much longer burnout and had no problems with hooking.
Cause I believe Flaco is only running around a 28" tire and he has no problems hooking with just caltracs.

true but put him on the street and he might have a little trouble, ill try getting the tires warmer to see if that helps! Oh and it could have been the massive wide tires they were running hahah 325/50/17 that thing is huge!

-3 on the pinion angle. It seems as though i have everything set up correctly just not getting full use out of it! Dont get me wrong it leaves ok but i can't make any power before i leave and about 20 ft out its like it decides to start spinning again if i am lucky enough to get it to hook leaving.

Got mine @ neg 4.It bites hard on street tires but wheel hops like a m-f-er which is why I have a shattered the ring gear.Shitty part is i had brand new caltracs sittin in the garage.I didnt use them cause i got a idea on how to use a f-body style torque arm on my truck. It will be cheaper, lighter, and more effective imo..
