2wd??
RC??
the 80E swap is easy if your 2wd. theres not much different in swapping to a TH400.
If you get a converter built to what you need it would make it alot easier using the stock flexplate.
if you go th400 your goin to need a longer DS. never done a 400 swap just 80E swaps.

I have done both swaps on my truck...first did the th400 and then the 80e and i by far recommend doing the 80e over the th400...surprisingly enough the cost of the 80e swap was about the same...i had a th400 with a t-brake and all and that cost 1200 with a 700 verter then had to have a DS made that was 400 and had to fab up a mount for it. the 80e i just bought a verter from Yank, pinned the pcm, had hptuners segment me a 80e trans file into my current tune used the same yoke for the th400 and had to shorten the DS about 4'' and made a diff mount for the trans...oh and if you go 80e buy a flexplate for a 98 f-body, it's dished so you dont have to use a spacer....but not having OD sucks *****

400 is much easier and cheaper. My friend and I just did one on his truck and it works amazing. This is a offroad prerunner truck though. If it was street driven I'd spend the extra $$$ and time installing the 4l80e for the OD. If you don't care about OD I'd go 400 all the way.

Flexplate, crank spacer, longer flexplate bolts, crossmember, trans, converter, 6 converter bolts, lower bellhousing cover, shifter cable bracket (if the trans doesn't come with one), harness for 2nd speed sensor, driveshaft, extension for the rear cooler line, and someone to swap the transmission segment in your tune.
