Default Swapping Tq convertor tomorrow

Gonna try an Art Carr 2800 stall. Hopefully it will get rid of some of the turbo lag. I know it will make a big differnce at the track with the 2-step.

The tq convertor is in. Now I have to get used to driving the truck with a higher stall. If I hit it from a stand still it only jumps to about 2200 rpm. I was hoping for more but thats no biggie. Now for the good news. I braked stalled it to see how much boost I could build. At 3500 rpm the boost gauge was at 5+ psi and climbing when I let off the brakes the tires went up in smoke. The boost did not drop off like it did with the 4l60e and 2600 stall. This is without the aid off the 2-step. The temps climb up really quick when brake stalling since the convertor is only 9 1/2 inches in diameter. Its tiny a light weight compared to the stock one. After playing a little it looks like 3-3 1/2 psi is all the street tires can take and still get a decent launch. I'm hoping the will yield a 2.0x 60 ft.

I don't know. Its no big deal. I was more concernrd with building boost when brake stalling and it does that much better than I had hoped for.

sometimes those converter ratings are a little off... which brand was it? Also, ive heard that over time the stall might become a little higher.

It is an Art Carr. Went out and played with the truck a little. I only had about 1/2 of the normal load in the bed. About 175-200 lb less. Hit it from about 15 mph. Right about 40 mph the tires broke loose. I went from a small traction issue on street tires with the 4l60e and 2600 stall to no traction issues with the 4l80e and stock stall. To worse traction issues with the 4l80e and 2800 stall. I guess I'll have to break down and get some drag radials sooner than expected. I'm still hoping to hit a 12.5 on street tires before I swap the 5.7 into the truck. A buddy of mine told me to wait until I was passing people with the tires spinning and you will really get their attention. I guess I'm there.

Now that I got my 4l80e and Art Carr stall fixed, I love it. glad to hear you didn't have any problems. (exept the 2200rpm stall thing) And when you pass people spinning your tires, you do get there attention. lol How much boost are you running again?
