Synthetic or nonsysthetic for Eaton Posi

Just my .02 cents worth. I called Eaton's tech guy on this 2 years ago. He said the synthetic is best (for gears and bearings also) and just use a good brand like Mobile, Valvoline & etc. that has the friction modifiers built in. I have been using Mobile synthetic in mine ever since (20k hard miles) and it still works great.

I'm not sure why the Eaton brochure said to use synthtic but don't. Use some normal mineral oil with a bottle of additive. Synthetic lube can cause chatter. Low speed chatter will most likely develop at some point with the synthetic. I'm a technician at Eaton that has worked on this issue in the past and it is ongoing. Mineral oil with additive is the best oil for the job. Synthetic isn't going to cause a failure but it can cause excessive noise.

Not wanting to get in on the stupid **** going on in this thread but its too fun not too
I installed my Eaton back in July and used non-synthetic gear oil and the GM fluid friction modifier. I have had ZERO issues with it.
On another note, who cares who's right and wrong here. I'm sure Tiburon did not jump in his car after the first response was made and fill his truck up with the so called wrong stuff.
Thats why some of these threads go on for days, weeks, and even months.
