Default t56 in 4.8l 5speed

can a t56 be installed into silverado with a 4.8l w/5spd and use the same shifter location. just curious

I don't think so, I looked into it on ls1truck forum and the shifter comes up real close to the center seat. Most of the guys used trans from f-body's, a viper trans may be different, not sure.

The shifter won't come up in the same location, but it IMO it comes up in a more ergonomic location for sure. It's a lot closer to the driver allowing the use of shorter throw shifters.

You won't have a crank issue either like other 4.8 5spd owners since you have a 2002. It would actually be a real easy swap for you.

I think 2002, I did it in a 2000. I decided to pull the 4.8 and put the 5.3 because of simplisity.

Take a look at 1TRUESS website, that will give you a picture of where it will sit.
