SIGH.......I'll say it again, I put down 431hp/489tq behind a 5 speed with the stock clutch and ran a 12.58 @ 109mph. That was on slicks and a 5k launch.

I progressivly beat on my nv3500 more and more each week and it hasn't even so much hiccuped at me. I don't think it's a bad transmission at all. The only faults I have with it is the slow 2-3 shift and the fact that not only is it slow but there's a big dip in rpms when you wind 2nd out and go into 3rd. I do however take mine up to 110MPH in 3rd gear. That's with 3.73's. Woot!

I'd also like to add the fact that the stock clutch is badass. Hasn't slipped with the power I'm putting down and has fantastic engagement. I can't even feel any signs of it wearing down even with the 6L upgrade.

I have the same tranny and haven't babied it at all. I agree with you 100%. I just raced a guy in a f150 and beat him by alot with 1200 pounds of concrete in the back. The transmission didn't have any problems with that. I also tow, drag race, and whatever else I think would be fun and she's still holding strong.

Wasn't the 5 speed in the Camaro a T5 or a version there of?

i wouldnt say they are bad but they certianly could use improvments...the biggest problem is the difference is gear ratios...really falls on its face between 2nd and 3rd...i cannot shift quick from 1st to 2nd without it grinding...i have to wait for the rpms do drop to atleast 4500 or so before she will go in without complaining...

after i did the cam swap its started to pop outta 4th gear now too...if i keep my foot in it hard and the rpms up the shifter jumps all around and pops out, not too cool...

but with 165k on it i dont blame her for anything...she still moans and groans but takes everything i throw at her...

One of my buddy works at a dealer that sold a bunch of the supercharged Gibbs trucks and they also have sold a lot of new "preloaded" Radix trucks with the NV3500's and he said they virtually never have any problems with them holding the power of FI motors.

My transmission doesn't grind, but i have noticed it doesn't like to be shifted at a quicker pace at high RPM, also i have been through 2 slave cylinders. I am about 100% certain that it is a slave issue.
