Interesting. So, RED, parameters for u were since u start w/ 5 spd = no cruise support.
1TrueSS, IIRC, you started w/ AUTO. Even if ya started w/ a 4 sp man'l(4 whatever) , the parameters are only there to go to 4 gears. So, there should be no cruise(in theory) in 5th & 6th. I, however, use DBW throttle. Hmm...
Honestly tho, there's only 1 time I'd miss cruise, on a trip or hwy. My commute to work is 13 miles. Unless, I take expressway(almost never, out of the way) I don't touch cruise. But @ 50 miles, 100 miles, or say down to TN or wherever, cruise might( it would) be cool. But not totally necessary.

no i have cruise in 5th cuz the truck computer was set up with it. just not in 6th. im willing to bet that the cruise uses different parameters with the cable tb, than it does with the dbw tb.

What about an SSR ? They are "trucks" and they came with a 6 spd..Maybe just reprogram the transmission section of the comp ? I guess it's called a segment swap. I have HP Tuners but I am not too good with it yet.

Should say cruise support for 5 gears. I typoed "no". Strike that from the record.

I really wish GM just offered a 5.3/ 5 spd outta the gate. Let alone w/ a 6spd. In all configs. not leave us reg. cabs out in cold.
But they didn't. I wanted to start w/a 5.3L. Not a 4.8L. IF I started w/3 pedals( the 4.8/5 spd), I'd go straight from 5M to 6M. No question.

+1 on that Beast. I'm thinkin same $ for 80E or T56, but learn slightly to...80e, I think,... maybe. This is to gain perspective for me & others thinking of what to do. This is a tranny upgrade FEELER thread.

T56. I had a hard time deciding which way to go. I had 4.10's, a truetrac, 6L w/ some work inside and out (425hp..ish) and the A4 now with no second gear. I read the **** out of these threads and finally said why not? You can always go back and unless you try you don't know what you're missing. I don't tow much, track rarely and am just looking for a little more fun in my DD. Auto was alright but got a little boring. I found a T56 the same week my A4 called it quits and have almost all the pieces to start the project. With the amount of info available here I have nothing to be affraid of, heck, the first day of research I had all the info I needed including the part number for the column cover! Give me the next two weeks and chalk one up for the A4-T56 swap tally.
