t56 questions
Ive been doin some thinking and pretty much come to the conclusion that i was gonna do the swap from my nv3500 to the t56...after reading some threads on it there was some concerns with the trans and the added weight of the truck...now naturally mine being and ECSB with 20s i just want to make sure that its not going to give me any problems...
im gonna mate it to a LQ4 with a goal of around 400 rwhp mark...im going to change the rear end to prolly a 4:56s or 4:88's and i run a 31" tire roughly but when i get new tires ill prolly go a little smaller...is there any other concerns that i should be aware of seeing the size of my truck?

I have 35k miles on my T56 with me beating on it and it is doing fine. I put down 413rwhp/401tq and I've launced it a 5k on slicks and spraying a 150 shot a few times. I snapped an axle and didnt' hurt the tranny.
I would recommend the 4.88's with your tire. I've had 3.73's, 4.30's and now 5.13's. If you don't tow much then the 4.88's should be fine, if you do tow, go with the 5.13's.
Also, I used to have a Turbo on mine @10psi with this trans.

The best way is to have it dis-arm off the clutch switch when it is depressed. But I did a quick and dirty temporary install and had a button I held with he left hand on the wheel at the same time. Kind of a dificult task but it got the job done for one trip to the track.

i have a t56 mated to lq4 and on a ok tune i was putting down 380rwhp and 380ftlb. granted i am a rcsb but i give it hell everyday.
start at post #29 and read on a couple of pages and you should get an idea of what i went through to change from the nv3500 to the t56. good luck with the swap and enjoy it.
