T56 Swap Issue
OK..."finally" got myself under the Tahoe to install the T-56. Problem is that my starter doesnt fit in the new GM (fbody) aluminum bell housing. Starter nose appears to be to big for the opening. I have dropped & swapped my auto many times w/o starter fitment issues before.
Anyone familiar w/ this issue? As far as I can tell, the truck and Fbody starters, although not identical, are supplosed to be interchangeable. In fact the truck starter is the desireble unit to install.
Thinking I may have to switch to another bell housing. The thought of wrestling with that heavy a$$ 6-speed again so soon.......sad.
Am I missing something?
PS - haven't even looked at the electrical/programming yet...thats scary.

Now that sounds like what I got although it was supposed to be an fbody unit. I guess I'll give the GTO starter a look. Much more simple than buying another bell housing and messing with a the tranny again.
thanks
thanks
