Default Take a look at my gear pattern.

Well, finally bit the bullet and had a set of 4.10 and a tru trac installed in the truck. Well, 1st time around about 200 miles in they started getting an insane whine to them on slight acceleration around 45 and got worse as the mph increased. Nothing on decel. Well, took it back to the shop, he pulled the cover off and the gears had a bad high spot on them. Pattern was good and the vendor I ordered the gears from immediately sent me a new set of gears. Installer put the new gears in (only charged me half cuz it really wasn't his fault) well, at around 250 miles on the 2nd set they got a small whine AGAIN. Decided to go ahead and ride them out for the full 500 mile break in and it didn't get any worse but it's still there and driving me insane!! Installer says they are setup right but I don't know the difference.
Can someone with some experience in this dept help me out and let me know what they think??

Looks like you may have thinned the paste down too much. Im not a professional with gears, so ill keep my opinion on setup to myself.

To me seems as pinion is to shallow and once it starting breaking it it started making noise since pattern is becoming further out....will continue to make whine how its setup

Will that cause them to have excessive wear and eventually go out? I've built this whole little POS but this rear end and this is what I get.

I would be interested to see what your pinion end play is and how crushed the shim is.... As well as what the rotating torque is it.... Looks like the pinion isnt pulled in far enough....

Yes eventually and if applying power with traction will accelerate wear.

Putting to much stress on the inner part of ring gear and cpuld lead to breakage

Well damnit... Looks like I'm gonna try and get a refund and go to a different shop. Maybe 3rd times a charm. With it being a wknd/track toy it takes forever to hit that 500 mile mark

500 mile break in? 2 heat cycles and keep it under 25 miles for the first trip. My old silverado went to the drag strip before it saw 50 miles on the odo

Break in?? Drive the damn thing like you stole it, i want it to break or f up on the initial test drive not 500 miles later.... Ive been known to build an engine or trans or even a rear end, and go out of the parking lot sideways!! I will drive a trans or whatever harder than i think the customer does, especially a commercial vehicle...i dont like comebacks or having to go back into something to fix it.... When i built the rear end in my silverado i took it around the corner from my ex brother in laws shop spinning tires out of the parking lot, then drove it for an hour home.... Not being easy on it either!!!

Really?!?! I have always been told 500 miles because the gears needed to be persay hardened in the oil???
Even the VERY well know vendor here who I got them from said 500
