TB Stall vs Yank 2600
What would you run and why out of these two stalls? I have a new GM (reman) TB convertor sitting in a box in my garage but have contemplated going w/ a yank 2600 instead. Any real advantage to the Yank over the TB stall? Looking for a good DD convertor, and just trying to decide on which would be the better all around convertor.

The TT2600 is a good converter. I have been happy with it for several years now. If you are going to go through the trouble of swapping converters, write down the mods you are wanting to do and prioritize. A tb converter maybe ok for a stock 4.8, but if add a cam or something else, you will be visiting the converter again.
As you can see from sig, I have a tt2600 behind my current motor. I had it on the stock internal/valvetrain 5.3. It does ok now. I could switch, but I can live with it.

Truck is a basic bolt on 4.8, w/ an eaton, 3.73's, and Wheatley tune. The most it will ever see in the future is a small comp cam somewhere in the 206/212 region. Cam swap is a long ways off if ever...
I know most say to go w/ the a TT3000 behind the smaller 4.8, but this is a DD only. The truck will never be "fast" just trying to make a good overall improvement from where it sits now. Anybody know what a TB vertor, tt2600 or tt3000 will flash and brake stall to behind a 4.8?

Go Yank. If you get the 2600 or the 3000 ethier way much better converter.
I had the TB stall for a little while and hated it so i got the YankTT2600.
Loved the Yank just wished i had gotten the 3000. If your a 4.8 your REALLY gonna wish you had the 3000 as they drive the same but you get a little more flash out of it.
Anyway, TB stall is annoying. To compare it to something i'd say take a 3200 and thats what a tb drives like.
Yes i ahve a 3200 as well lol.
The tb stall to get moving will require around 2200rpms if you want to take off at a decent speed.
The Yank will require around 1700-1800 for the same take off.
The TB will all around drive you up the wall compared to a yank.
Normal driving like i said nothing less than 2200rpms and your better off giving it a little more gas which puts you at it's 2600rpm limit with less than half peddle easy.
This gets old fast and sucks down some gas.
The TT2600 i could take off fine and if i wanted a little more take off it would run around 2200rpms. The same as a tb stalls SLOW take off.
IMO go with the 3000 but ethier way stay away from the TB stall unless you want to replace it again.

Thanks for all the info man. Didn't realize the TB Vertor's were like that at all. I thought they would be more mild than that being a factory stall (mild meaning taking less rpm to get it moving). Have always wanted to drive a truck w/ one to get an idea of how it would act. Does'nt the amount of peddle to get it moving have alot to do w/ STR? So in essence the higher the STR the better the driveability?
