Hey guys, I was wondering where I could get more information about the trailblazer torque converter? I've searched and searched and I havent found what I"m looking for. I know that behind mild 5.3's its can stall as high as 2600. I also know that they are cheap! My main question is, can they take alot of abuse? Being a factory gm piece and all is it worth my time to put one in my truck? I'm running a mild heads cam setup now (212/218 .560 115, milled heads, full bolton's) and its a dog from a dig if it gets traction. From what I understand several people have used them behind 6.0's and been fine. Just looking for first hand experiences and pros and cons from the people who have them.

Thanks,
Clint

Im also researching it.....make sure you are looking at the tb stall from an i6 cylinder.....the tbss stalls will act like a factory stall behind the 5.3's the tbss stalls seem to only be working for those with the 6.0 Let me know if you go through with it as im also interested.

I have one, real fun converter but beware of it's history if you get a used one. I made a pretty noob mistake and got one installed that was in a 60 that took a dump. Mine had metal shavings in it and wiped out a pump even though it was supposedly thouroughly flushed out by a trans shop. Now I'm getting a yank tt3000 installed and having another shop give the trans a good go-over to make sure everything is kosher.

Honestly if you are going to go with a stall I would seriously consider just spending the extra money and get a good converter like a Yank or PI and be done with it, you will be alot happier in the long run. I think the Yank tt2600 and tt3000 are under $600 now and they are worth every penny.

It's up to you though man, just my opinion.

Thanks for the opinions, I'm really on a super tight budget as of now and for what mods I have I was thinking this would be a reliable and cost effective choice. You can get new ones for $150 vs the $600 for a yank. Anyone else?

Ask KBRacing how he liked his TB converter. I think he was making 500 rwhp on a turboed 4.8L with his tb converter. His truck was a freak though.

ive got a tbtc in my 6.0 and i love it. although its my first stall so i couldnt say how much better a yank might be. you want one out of a I6 trailblazer NOT a SS. i got mine from Camargo trans on ebay. offered $100 which they accepted and another $23 for shipping.

I need to verify part numbers with you guys: from another forum I found this

24228708: 02-03 TB 4.2L
24228709: 04 TB 4.2L
12491321: 05 TB 4.2L

It will be behind a mild heads/cam 5.3 if it makes a difference.

Bulldogss- I found another conveter online from the same company but al it says it 98' and up conveter. is this the one you have? Also how high does it stall with your 6.0 and how are the light throttle manners?

Thanks for any help guys..
