TC problems
I would've posted this in the ford section, but it seems to be pretty dead there. My work truck is a 2006 F150 5.4 4WD with 117k miles. I think the TC is messing up. The truck behaves normal in town and at any speed below 50. It cruises fine at any speed, but acceleration on the highway is odd. Light acceleration is okay. If you give it enough pedal to downshift its okay. However, if give it a decent amount of pedal and stay in the same gear the truck shudders pretty bad. It shakes like a **** and doesn't accelerate. Is that the TC crapping out on me? If so, how bad is it?
Thanks,
Jim

It is possible to have a torque converter clutch shutter in the 4r70w trans. I had an issue with one of my cars and did a valve body service replacing one of the lock up valves in the valve body. I also did a complete service of the oil and it fixed it. You can completely drain the converter by removing a pipe plug in the converter. Here is a link to the part I replaced in the valve body that fixed my issue. Vince

thanks guys, I'm just trying to figure out how bad this might be. The company I work for doesn't really have the spare cash to fix it right now so I baby it every time I drive it.
