Yes I am glad I asked, looking forward to more people helping with this question. As far as the cost for the two converters, TCI told me $538 for their SF3000 plus freight, and Yank told me $699 plust freight for their TT3000. Strange that Summit Racing advertises the same TCI model for $454. If anyone knows of a better deal let me know.

Texas Speed is a sponsor on the right they carry it for $419. I like Summit because they dont charge shipping on much of their stuff.

Yep...Yep.... Texas Speed is a great business, has great prices, and great customer service. I got mine there, as well as a few other things. Let them hook you up!

So if anyone can shed some light on this, give your experience with TCI converter, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I have a streetfighter from TCI Ive been happy with it after 400 miles its tightened up alot and is very drivable. Most guys seem to go with yank because they say it will keep your stock towing capacity, I doubt it (any stall at high rpm's increases tranny heat and then you add on towing forget about it) but Ive never tested it. I havent tested towing with the TCI either. TCI is reliable and you wont go wrong with either one personally Id get the TCI for 420, havent seen any reliability issues on hear with them.

I've had my TCI in for almost 4000 miles now, and I've NO problems. I've haven't towed with it yet, but since mines and EC, and I have had it loaded down in the bet with two fat friends inside. It's probably equivalent to you RC guys towing a small boat or something. It footbrakes to about 25-2700rpm, even with my gears. Allthough the gear swap did make the converter act tighter. It flashes to about 3000, which is what I was looking for. I must say though, it was one of the first mods I did, and it made the truck a ton more fun to drive. That's what its all about anyway.

Looking to do the install myself, is there anyone that has done the work themself, that may have some hot tips? Saw on another post that GM glues the connector into place for the nuetral safety switch on the side of the trans. Do they do this on all years, or just on certain years and models? How many people are using a highstall conv. in the snow belt areas of the country? Does this cause any problems with traction in the snow, or do you just use a very light foot? Just some questions that came to mind, thanks for your help.

Not to hijack your thread, but does TCI make a 2600 stall converter for our trucks, our just the 3000?

No problem Tdrumm, when I called TCI they told me that they also had a 2400 stall converter, called the Break Away. Part number 242938. Not sure if they offer a 2600 stall or not, but maybe this will help you.
