I don't think there is a problem with them, but more-so that most people have found other converters they like better.

I have a B&M converter and love it. So personally I would go with the TCi if you can get a deal on it, but if not then spend the same amount on one of the converters that everyone uses for our trucks so you know it will perform well.

my TCI took a crap on me a week ago, the TCC(torque converter clutch) piston/plate actually came apart on mine, but I've seen numerous accounts of TCI's having problems with the clutch material itself and after cutting mine open for inspection I can see why, the tcc clutch material cant be any larger than a 4cyl converter. I suggest looking into a Yank or PI Vigilante like others have stated...a little more coin to begin with, but you'll be happier in the long run.

there's really nothing wrong with the TCI verter. some on this board have had issues with them, but there are alot being run with zero issues. i have at least 30k on my TCI-SF without any problems so far. yes the clutch isn't huge, but hell its a racing converter not a towing converter.

You get what you pay for....within reason. Yanks are good, well tried and tested and proven reliable. Same goes for the PI Vigilante's. These converters cost considerably more than 'others' but keep in mind a converter failure could cost you a transmission, right?
