TH400 / 4L80E handy tips
Speaking with a friend of mine who was a crew chief for Jim Walton's funny car team...he told me acouple of things they used to do with the TH400's when building them.
Vince...do you have an opinion on this.
1) When rebuilding the trans....put the lip seals in the freezer. This contracts them enough that they'll drop straight into place and then expand as they warm up.
2) Use the 'large' snap ring out of a Torqueflite trans as it's slightly thicker than the stock item and will reduce flex and eventual case destruction (breaking of the retaining tabs).
3) use the green frictions.

My transgo HD2 kit came with a new slightly thicker snap ring. I didn't have it town down that far to put it in but I do have it for when I eventually freshen it up. Makes sense on the lip seals.
