If you put the stock tires back on you'll bring up your gear ratio and get a little more power. Like it says above, if you get shorter gears you'll get back the power. Also, with the stock tires back on you wont be pushing as much weight because of the larger tires.

Running a larger tire is hurting performance by lowering the effective gear ratio and increasing rotating mass.
Increasing your final gear ratio will compensate some but if you are after performance you'll want the stock size or smaller tire diameter and lighter wheels.

FWIW, my truck came stock with 265/75-16...it was a factory optional tire size. 245/75-16 was the standard size. For a while I was runnin 285/75-16's which is a 33" tall tire...I didn't think it hurt performance, but when I went to the track and was runnin 2.4-2.6 60' times I realized that it did. I'm using a 31" tall tire now, hopefully I can get to the track this year and see if my 60' times improved any. Oh yea, factory 3.73 rear BTW.

currently running Kumho ECSTA STX 275/70 R16 on stock wheels. 30" height.
I'm probably loosing a little low end torque, but I've added a few mods to the engine, and have no complaints, especially at top end!
