Thinking of Going From 3:42 to 3:73's
I have an 05 Z71 ECSB with the locker in 3:42. The 3:73's were not an option in 05.
I enjoy the 3:42's especially on the 500 mile drives to FL. But with current air fares that is no more.
I have a Radix and want to ask about;
The expected felt differences in performance?
The mpg hit?
Would my Dyno tune need attention?
Will I need to have the speed-o adjusted?
I will have a shop do it and need to know what to discuss to make sure no short-cuts are taken.
And what MFG gear set to buy? OE? Used from here?
And while I'm in there, a better posi unit? Brand?
Thanks Guys

With the Radix (and what tire size?) I'd say skip right to the 4.10's. I did the swap to 3.73 against better advice and kick myself ever since. Changing gear ratio or tire size requires a couple of simple adjustments. Performance will greatly be improved off the line, traded for a little economy of course.
Buy OE gears, they are the best. Everyone loves the TruTrac LSD.
Good luck, happy modding!

The expected felt differences in performance? Roughly 2 tenths better in the 1/4 mile
The mpg hit? Mpg wont suffer to much slow down a little lol
Would my Dyno tune need attention? You will need a tune
Will I need to have the speed-o adjusted? The tune will take care of the speed-o
I will have a shop do it and need to know what to discuss to make sure no short-cuts are taken. Guarantee
And what MFG gear set to buy? OE? Used from here? I have Yukon gears there very quiet no whine bought them from Randy's ring and pinion
And while I'm in there, a better posi unit? Brand? Definitely do a posi while you're in there I have an Eaton posi and is holding up just fine. Others like the tru-trac.

Thanks,
I have and will continue to run the OE 265/70/17 tires. I do go off road a tad for wildlife photography.
New tune you say. I'm curious as to why? My tuner will re-do it charging only for the Dyno time.
I forgot about being 4x4 and the front gears. Do they have to be changed to match?

You would be a fool to spend $1000 going from 3.42s to 3.73s. Sorry, but that's just a waste of money. With your ~31.5 tires I would be running at least 4.10s and most likely 4.30s.
That's coming from a guy who went from 3.42s to 3.73s. Although, it didn't cost me any money.
