I have the dipstick tube for the 80E but will the 60E dipstick work with the 80E tube? Are they they same length?

From what I can gather my 6L with a 5.3 flexplate will NOT need the crank spacer.

The crossmember I got for the 2003 doesn't look like it will work at all. Time to get out the torch

After some research it looks as if I will be going with the fixed youke and splined driveshaft. Steel most likely. If I go aluminum I have to use a slip yoke.

The tranmission mount for the 65E and 80E are different correct? I dont have one for the 80E. Is it just a piece of hard rubber? Anybody got one laying around?

i know on your orginal post you only wanted opinions from people that have done the swap, well I have not, but I thought this might help..

Here is a MPH gear calculator I put together when I was researching a T56 for my project car, I have converted it to compare the 60 and 80. It also shows the gear extension/drop between shifts to show how close the ratios are, however it does not take into consideration the amount of RPMs the Torque converter would eat up. Just plug in the numbers you need...

Anyways I hope it helps, Oh and just type in the Red fields (tire size, gear ratio, and shift points).

That is the greatest post ever. LMAO, FINALLY you guys figure it out......

The dip sticks are the same lenght, the tubes are just bent different. The mount "SHOULD" be the same so your 60 "SHOULD" work,
You will need a spacer if you use a 5.3 flex plate with a 5.3 bolt pattern 80e converter

I believe the stick is the same and the tube is different if I remember correctly.

Did a little research on the crossmember. I found that on a 2000-2002 truck their doesn't appear to be as much of a difference as in the 2003+ trucks. Anybody know if the crossmembers were placed slighty different on the frames?

Here is a 4WD 2000-2002 crossmember. The only part that I can see that makes it 4WD is the dip for the transfer case:

This is a 2003+ crossmember 4WD. It appears to set the mounting hole further back than the earlier models:

This is the one Speed Engineering sent me a pic of. It is a 2WD crossmember but it looks different that the others I have found. I am assumimg that this is possibly a 2003+ crossmember as it looks close to the 2003+ above:

I was told that there was about a 6 1/2" difference in the trans mount position between the 60 and 80. I think on a 2000-2002 model the distance is much less. I bet I could just weld a small plate onto my existing 60E member and make it work. That is what the first picture looks like to me.
What do you guys think?

I modified mine like the first pic you posted. The difference in length was 3.5". I cut the metal plate off mine and re-welded it to the backside of the crossmember and gusseted it from underneath like the first pic but they used a different plate added to the back.

I like my 6.0/4L80e combo.. Shifts points are at 65/101/135. The truck drives awesome on the freeway. it is a bit sluggish off the line with the 3.73's and 31.6" tall tires. I gained almost 4mph with the swap and nearly the same ET's.

The sluggish first gear is a benefit n my situation. The 3.06 in the 60e always resulted in a smoke shows under 30mph. Everytime I went WOT off idle, it would just sit there and smoke the $300 Pirelli's.

With the 80e, after about 25 mph it is great. The converter will help off the line as well. It is not that bad staying in first gear until 60. Here is a vid of me going down the 1/4. You can hear how long I stay in first.
