It's really not too much more work than a standard transmission R&R. They will have to lengthen one of the cooler lines, and wire the two pins into the PCM. That is about the only thing different than a standard swap that I can think of. I'd guess for a good mechanic with a helper and lift somewhere around 4 hours or so if they have all the pieces and parts. Just a guess on my part though.

Also, let them know to put the dipstick tube up in place BEFORE putting the 4L80E in. It can be done afterwards but, it isn't easy.

Do you have a plan in place to control the trans?

Yes, as far as I know you cannot just install a 4L80E and expect the PCM to control it correctly... not without changing the software. I will be installing a 4L80E soon as well and have obtained a 6L/4L80E HP Tuners file (software I use) for the year of my truck... and will have my tuner transfer the motor tune to it prior to uploading it when I swap my tranny. Segment swapping, if done correctly, can happen as well. EC Tune on HP Tuners forum can help you if you haven't figured it out already.
