Default Time to crack open my 4l60

I FINALLY got my desk top up and running again so I've been uploading pictures

Anyways I finally got my budget trans together. I've only got $550 into everything so if something doesn't work I should still come out a good financially. hopefully....... lol!

The trans is out of an F-Body with 23k
HD-2 Shift Kit
2nd and 4th gear Billet Servo
3000 rpm TCI Stall

Everything but the shift kit is used and I haven't seen anything installed in a working car. The trans and stall came from members with a good trader rating. I made sure the trans fluid looked good and I put it through its gears. Just made sure the output shaft spins, goes into reverse, neutral, and park.

Is there anything else I can do to check this stuff before I put it together? I thought about putting the trans in to make sure it works and than the stall and than installing the shift kit and servos. lol

What do you guys think?

When you open it up to put the shift kit in check the 2nd band... thats about all you can see unless you go in deeper...

It is much easier to install the servo's and kit with the trans out of the vehicle. Take pictures when you are taking it apart. You will get confused on a lot of things. Trust me. Pay attention to bolts and length in the valve body. All the check ball locations. When working on the valve body only do one thing at a time and have everything ready and in line to go right back in.

Thanks for the advice so far guys! I think I'm going to go a head and install everything at once and pray that it works the first time around!

if that's a fbody trans . . . then the tail shaft housing is different

The TransGo isn't that hard . . . read it all at least 3 times before starting . . . and keep the washers in the baggie !
Drill the plate the largest holes for the shifts

I was just going to take if off and find out but since you brought it up I'll ask I should be able to reuse the seal for the tailshaft right? Not the output shaft seal but the "case extention" seal. I looked it up in the ATSG guide but I couldn't find a solid answer.
