Default Tire Help, size question

Hey guys i am currently running my stock 16's on the truck, I need new rubber on them. What is a nice sporty/touring/performance tire that is fairly wide and is 29 in or shorter. If ya have time gimmie some feed back. Any and all replies would be a great help to give me an idea.. Thanks JOHN

I have 275/60-16 Toyo Proxes ST tires on my truck and I love them. I measured the tire height and they are about 28.5" tall. You can see pics of them on my truck here:

It looks like you can put a 295/50 on that 8" stock rim, but it is 27.6" diameter.

Stock wheels are 6.5" wide so really a 275 or maybe a 285 is the widest you can go on stockers. One guy on here has (I think) Pirellis that're a 285/65 16 on the stock wheels and they look really good.

My bad indeed - I was thinking of my Camaro.

Yeah the steel stock is 6.5" wide and the aluminums are 7" wide. Your main problem is staying under 29" diameter really cuts down on how wide you can go. A 255/65 as mentioned is probably the best you can do for staying under that diameter, but the 285 that Stroker mentions would decent, but at more of a stock height.
