Default tire questions

Here is my current setup on my truck.

3/6 drop
255/65 General grabber.
16x8 5" Rear Spacing

Here are the specs on the current tire:

6.53 - Height
10.04 - Section Width
29.05 - Diameter
91.27 - Circumfrence

Here is the tire I want to run
295/50/16

5.81 - height
11.61 - Width
27.61 - Diameter
86.75 - Circumfrence

The cragars I want to run them on have a 5" back spacing. Will they sit flush under the rear? If they won't will a stock 16" aluminum chevy wheel sit flush?

I believe they will stick out past the fenders a little bit on the Cragar wheels, but they should be okay on the stock wheels. The stock wheel is a little narrow for that tire, but others will say they have done it and been okay.

So if I ran the 295s on the cragars, would it look goofy in the rear, or would it balance the appearance out if I put some shackles on and brought it down an inch?

I'm not sure if it would look goofy, but it might not look the way you want it to.

I would ask the tire shop to "test fit" it on your Cragar, on the truck, and look at it. Then decide for yourself if you like it.

I guess I can already tell it'll stick out. I am hoping that it at least doesn't stick out too bad with stock rims. With that 27.6" tall tire there will be even more of a gap if I leave the rear at 6" back there. The rear tires are 29" now and it still doesnt even look like it fits under there. If I put the stockers with those 295s I'd like to put some shackles on for now to bring it down some

Be sure to keep your pinion angle in-check if/when you do the shackles.

BTW, what happened with the Caddy 18's??

I actually had the truck at 8" for a long while and the pinion angle was fine. I went from 2-4, to 4-8, then up to 3-6 for the turbo I had put on.

The caddy 18s are for sale. Too much rotating mass for me, plus things came up and decided I needed to stay practical with my project.
