Default Toast 60

So I have a 05 silverado 5.3 2wd I accidentally drove it with low tran fluid and it seems to have burned up the clutches. I would like to get some suggestions and help. Here's a few things that I have questions about.

I want to rebuild it myself low budget but I don't want to cut any corners.
Where can I get a cheap high performance kit and what's the best brand??
If no actual hard parts are ruined what pieces should I replace that are key weak points??
I want to build the tranny to handle plenty of track time with nitrous.
I found a few rebuild on kits that seem to have everything you need. For about $400. Thanks in advance.

Slippe my mind earlier. But the truck does drive. Goes through all the gears but when you try and wot it slips and just revs up. I'm guessing it's just the clutches??

If your budget is an issue, then I would highly recommend that you do not take your self built 60e to the track let alone hit it with a power adder. Never forget that Cheap and Performance do not go together. Period. Not being a smart *** here, but just want you to think in terms you may not have considered.

Here's my point and I can only speak for myself here. When I was developing my line of high performance 60e's years ago I roasted a stack of clutches that was damned near 4 ft tall. But, I was trying things that many guys would not, I expected certain failures from time to time. I had a budget that projected many, many failures. I needed to know a few things and I learned them. That's how I know what I'm about to tell you.....

If your budget does not include the money to have a highly skilled and qualified builder do it right the first time, but it does include you building it, then I would recommend that you buy 2 of every soft part that's going into that unit based on your comment about spraying it at the track. No offense intended, not trying to be a *****... just trying to see to it that you get the best unit you can for your money and time.

I have no doubt that you can take it apart and put it back together with good parts, many countless builders do that every day. But you have to ask yourself who the successful ones are. Then you have to ask yourself how much time and money do you really have to spend on dealing with your transmission. Sure you can save money on the labor by doing it yourself... but I can tell you with full confidence that in my entry level units $400.00 will not buy the parts to build a unit that will handle what you are going to be doing with it. And that's my cost!

I just want you to think about what you are getting yourself into. And I wish you luck with it, and I'll be here to answer any questions you have along the way... whether you do business with me or not.

Call me. I wouldn't mind discussing your project one bit. I do not sell parts for rebuilds, but I can take a look at the kit you are considering and make recommendations from there. I have had guys buy parts from all the internet suppliers you can think of... some are better than others. Some are "close" to getting it right and others are not in the same league when it comes to supplying a good performance rebuild kit.

Hope that helps buddy.... Let me know if I can help you in any way.

I kinda exaggerated on the cost issue. It's not much of a problem just don't want to get screwed over. And also I'm recovering from a $5000 paint job. Lol. But with what I've said I want to get it running right. So what kit would you recommend and from where?? I'm guessin I will get the soft parts and then tear it open and inspect everything. What should I look for after opening it up??

All I can tell you is if you haven't done it b4 or get a professional to do it ....man couse putting it together might. Look easy but. Actually doing it ..not to mention when you get to valve body and what if when your done it won't shift into 2nd or 3rd ect .....then what ....honestly the trannu is not something I would cut corners ....the quality of the parts are just as vital as the the knowledge as the person putting it together ...
