Torque Converter ?

Torque Converter ?
Need opinions. I want to take out my TCI 3000 stall and put the stock back in. I cant tow and it just burns a ton of gas around town. I have been doing some research and now I'm thinking about a circle d or yank 2600. What do you guys think. I believe my bad taste for TC's is only because I have a POS converter. I have noticed that on the highway the RPM's is higher than before at the same speed.

While your cruising down the highway, keep your foot on the gas to maintain speed, but use your other foot to slightly depress the brake pedal. What this will do is unlock the torque converter, thus making the rpm jump up. If the rpm doesn't change, then your converter is not locking up.

OK now I'm hijacking, sorry. I tried the brake pedal while cruising and the RPMs would jump up about 250-300 or so. I also tried shifting between 3rd and 4th. and you can barely tell its shifting. Its only noticeable cruising at higher speeds and its a very small drop in revs when going from 3rd to 4th. Am I correct in my assumption that this is not a lockup issue but a 4th slipping issue? Is this a tuning issue? when I put the transgo kit in, I didn't install the servo shims as it felt really tight. Could that be the source? would a billet 4th servo help? I'd like to try narrowing this down before I tear into anything.
