Circle d is recommending their hp series 3000-3200 278mm, will probably end up going circle d, since they seem to be the higher recommended of the two from those that have used them. Was just looking for possibly a less expensive option!!! Then again i only want to do this once, and i know ya get what ya pay for!!! Rs/ss 4.8, thanks for the heads up, doubt it will still be available when i come up with the $$$ which seems to be the hardest part right now!!!

We do a lot of little extras to the 278mm to make them last in these heavy trucks. Most importantly is our balloon plate with built in bearing retainer. The most common problem on the 278 is the rear bearing failure due to shallow ID centering on the stator. We add our retainer on the OD of the bearing and upgrade to a 4L80 HD bearing. We implemented this mod about 3 years ago, virtually eliminating that failure. We also have the normal TIG welding, HD impeller hub, long life spun wound clutch and our CDS specs for stall options. Be happy to help you guys if you have any questions. 278mm is a great converter for the right setup, but some builds will require stepping up to the Pro Series Billet line.

I just took a tour through FTI's machine shop and seen how they put these converters together. Because I was able to actually walk through the process to see how they were built, it made my decision a little easier. This is what made me buy an FTI converter today.Because I can put my hands on it and see how they are build it. I understand not everybody has that option and I know circle deed makes a really good converter.. but I just feel better being able to go right down the road if I have any problems I understand not everybody has that option and I know circle deed makes a really good converter.. But I just feel better being able to go right down the road if I have any problems. They were very nice very well priced and it looks like a very strong converter for the money.

I've been talking with the people at FTI the past few days, and they really are nice to deal with. I'm putting one of FTI's billet 9.5 single disc in the Tahoe. Was gonna go with a tripple disc, but a few people I've talked to said a single will be fine.... So we shall see!
