Torque Converter Gone Bad Possibly??
i was just wondering if any one has had their torque converter go out??
when you go to put my truck in gear all it does is have a quiet whine, really it has the same whine in park just not as loud.. but say its in drive, rev it up a little bit and go to put it in reverse it still just whines ,it doesnt try to grind or anything...could that be a torque converter??

I had one die on me and it did the same thing just went awayno gears at all. Somthing I did not know at the time is that it damaged my thrust baring and that is why I have my motor in the machine show now for a new crank, cam, and lifters. So if it is your verter check your motor before you run it again

Mine was moving fluid. The fans on the converter broke away from the center where the shaft goes in. I had no Idea untill I spoke to the machine shop that when that happens it can take out your crank. Now I know

unfortunatly you will have to pull the trans to see if it is f'ed. I poured the fluid out of the converter and it looked like candy paint with a metal flake.
