torque converter/tranny whine
hey guys i put a yank tt3000, hd-2 shift kit, servos, accumulators etc. along with a nelson tune in last saturday. followed break-in procedure recommended by yank. 220 miles on the converter. i did a couple of brakestands and burnouts and all that good stuff. i came to a stoplight and im hearing a whine coming from the tranny at an idle. the a/c and radio were off so im wondering if thats the only reason i heard it. it doesnt sound too bad but have any of you guys heard the same thing?

I have heard this complaint before. It might not be your new converter or the transmission pump. It might be one of your components on your motor that is being driven by your serpentine belt. A easy way to check this is to remove the belt and see if the noise goes away. Might be some thing to address before going after the trans or converter. Vince

ill give it a shot, but when i went to the front of the truck i couldnt hear it. i can only hear it from either side and i can only hear it when a/c and radio is off so its not that loud. it doesnt sound like a bad noise, i just noticed it, and im probably just being paranoid, unless my idler bearing or something is going bad. thanks for the heads up, and by the way im very happy with the shift kit and the other goodies i got from you, great customer service.
