Default Torsion bar code numbers.....

I've already searched and searched on this on, the part number thread kinda helped but I'm still stumped......

HOW do I tell what torsion bars I have ???, The bar itself has "Z H 608" (or possibly "809 H Z") stamped into the end of it (and ZH/HZ is NOT a standard GM torsion bar code) and that is ALL I can find

I want to swap to lower torque torsion bars to bring the front-end down some but until I find out the stock torque I can't determine what bars to swap to....I guess I could just swap to 1/2 ton 4wd bars and hope for the best but I'd like to try and be 100% sure before I do this

Any guesses ??

I know there was a huge discussion on torsion bars at FullSizeChevy.com and they had part numbers for a lot of 1500 and 2500 vehicles' torsion bars. May wanna try there.

If you dont find it listed in my TB tech article let me know and Ill get it figured out for you and add it to the list.

BTW read the code on the tag of the bar, not the end.

I think going to a softer torsion bar will make your truck ride too soft, make you feel like you are bouncing around all over the place.

I was thinking about going to a stiffer torsion bar, depending on cost, if they are expensive, im just gonna wait to do coilovers.

OK....torsion bar code is "GK" (8615lb torque rating), what will swap directly in and use the "purple" keys but have a lower torque rating ??

sorry I didn't get the pics or PM sent......work has been a bitch lately
