Thumbs up track times on stock gears vs 3.73 or 4.10's

can I get some track times posted with gear swaps and mild upgrades? I have heard that in some cases you can drope up to 1 sec. off stock times. I maybe doing 2 gear swaps in the near future and want to get ideas for mine. my buddy is going 4.10 in a 4.8 with little highway driving, and I do alot of highway drivin and was thinking 3.73's. what rpm incease will I be looking at vs my 3.23's. thanks for any help

well im kinda wondering the same, i know for a fact that our 323s 1st gear goes to 53mph, and with 373s it goes up to like 43 or so? and with 410s its about 35ish.. i dunno i might be a lil off.. i do a lot of hw driving so i might be getting 373s but i want 410s. i need a job to where i get my own vehical or gas card.

i wish i could answer that exact question, but in a similar situation....years ago i had an old nova with 3.08 open diff. i built a motor/trans and wanted to see what it would do. ran an 8.3 in the 1/8th spinning like a beeotch.

later, i put 4.56 ring/pinion and welded the spider gears together to make a locker <dedicated drag car> and the first time out i ran 7.88 with wheel spin. both the runs were on the same street tires. eventually i got it down to 7.3 with slicks/open headers.
it was a 74 4-door nova by the way!

Zzebes dropped a second with switching from 3.23's to 4.10's. With 3.73's I do 2200~ RPM @ 70 mph. It does good on the highway.

hey LM7, what size lift is your cam? and what LSA?

i am about to get a 212/218 custom from comp.... .558/.563 on a 114.

just curious...i saw your 1/4 mile times... i was hoping for faster than that?

i am not trying to insult your time, i just want to break into the 13's with the cam/LT's and some 3.73's.

212 218 .522 .529 114 LSA. I was hoping for faster too, and you'll get faster without a Wait4me tune. I'm guessing in the 14.2 range with a real tune. The track was around 900ft above sea level, I was at full weight, no cool down yada yada. I'll be in much better shape this Spring.

Correct. I'm skipping them and installing my nitrous kit. With a good torque converter, that cam, and tuning you'd be 13's easy. With the gears of course. With a tune I can see me being in the 14.2's.

i would love some nitrous too, but i am scared of it blowing out my tranny.

everybody claims these motors love at least a 75-100 shot wet kit....but i have never done nitrous.
