I'm guessing it does effect the ride some as he is tie-ing the leaves together

I was guessing the same thing....but you never know. If this solves the dreaded axle wrap/hop problems without caltracs, I am in.

Thinking about this for my 4x4 after I get the STS kit, will it change the load carrying capacity at all? Just wondering if I would have to remove them to maybe carry 1000lbs of gravel, top soil, or tow a 5000lb boat. Just wondering. Thanks.

My 2500HD is less prone to this as the leaf pack is substantial, and have yet to experience this, however, it may become an issue in the near future.

good info on the leaf clamps

Did you put the clamps in front or behind the axle? Or does it matter?

Front , back wouldnt do anything . I think it would make the axle wrap worse ..

What ride quality? He has a 4/6 drop! J/K!

Axle wrap is caused by the pinion gear trying to climb the ring gear. This in effect bends the leaf springs into an "S" shape. The front part of the spring bows upward, and the rear part bows down. What I don't understand is how clamping the front part helps eliminate this. The spring pack is already forced together at that point due to the torque being applied. Maybe I'm thinking about this all wrong. Either way, those clamps will work well in shortening your springs life.
