What kind of transmission do I have in my 2006 1500 2wd Silverado 4 spd auto 5.3 Litre?

i always thought that it was the 4L60E, but i talked to the owner of mad dog transmissions and he said that most people think its the 4l60e but all 4.8 and 5.3 from like 99 and up (not possitive on the year) have the 4l65E but i dont know, that just what he said. he siad the only difference with the 65 is that it is a little longer, has a bigger converter, and a bigger input shaft. is this correct?

You would have to check your rpo code sticker. If it say's m30 it's a 4l60e. If it say's m32 it's a 4l65e. As far as what XXX said. I think he is a little confused. All LS1 4L60e's from the outside appear to be the same. The differences are in the inturnals. GM 5 pinion planets front and rear. Bearing style reaction shaft. Hardened shafts and a couple of other things on some of the late units I've seen.
