bulkparts has the 40000gvw coolers, the Hayden Rapid cool 679 pictured is a 30000gvw cooler but it is also alot smaller and compact than the 40000gvw units.

If you want one like mine go to Orilleys and pick one up, It should fit.

why dont you just get 2 30k's and make yourself a custom 60k GVW inline coolant system! ha ha im sure you'd have to add more fluid to it though...i dunno if it would work but might be cool. ive seen the 40k and they are about as big as an FMIC. i think like 18in wide, 6in tall and 1.5in thick maybe?

I do know that haden has some coolers very comparable with the true kool but not normally found in part stores.
Hi Vince...I don't want to hijack the thread, but I'm curious as to why you don't like the tube and fin style coolers. I've used that style on most of my rides and always had good luck with them. I'm always sure to build brackets to mount them (as you mentioned, those radiator zip ties are bad news), and I'm very careful not to bend the fins. Since they're mounted behind a grille, I've been lucky enough not to have any problems with the fins getting damaged. I like that the tube and fin coolers seem to allow more air flow across them to the radiator, while the stacked plate design appears slightly more restrictive to the air going to the radiator. I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time ). I've been considering eventually upgrading to a bigger cooler when I swap in my LQ9, and want to get as much info as possible before I make my final purchase.

Here's my current cooler...it's a PermaCool 17,000 GVW unit. (I've been using PermaCool products for years and I'm kinda partial to them...)

LOL Thanks for the picture. The style that you have is the design that I was making reference to. They call that a tube and fin style cooler. Back before I was aware of the plate and fin style which is the one that DLH2006 purchased I did use the tube and fin style as well. They did work fine although as we both agree that the zip tie's/radiator killers just suck. I don't remember them having the side plates with the bolt holes on them as you have on your cooler. Probably because they were a Hayden design not the Permacool. With only being able zip them to the radiator was a real turn off for me. Once I saw the fin and plate design I really never looked back. I liked how solid that the were constructed and was told that they cooled better. I was sold with that right there. The plate and fin style cooler didn't have fins that would bend. Also I could mount it solid like the oem coolers and also had larger ones available. It was a win/win as far as I was concerned. I have never tested as far as the cooling differences in the two designs. But seeing as we are on this topic, I had to dig up a little more tech on this subject. This information comes straight from a 2005 Hayden product guide. "The plate and fin style offers 33% more efficient than a compariable tube and fin design. Pre-drilled mounting plates for easy installation. Inturnal turbulation for more efficient heat transfer. Also plate and fin design offers excellent cooling efficiency in a compact,space-efficient design." Which pretty much means that we can get a larger gvw cooler in the same space as the tube and fin design. I do know that they are a little more money however I see alot of advantages here.

I already have one B&M 24,000 GVW cooler. Is there any problem with adding a second one inline with the first? I've seen mention of pressure loss, but I don't know if that applies to the bar and fin style coolers. In other words, is there any advantages or disadvantages to having one 40,000 cooler vs two 24,000 coolers (other than the slightly higher combined 48k vs 40k ratings)?

Personally i would recomend purchasing one unit that has the GVW rating you would like. Im not sure if their are any disadvantages in having two coolers inline but i would recomend making it as easy as possible.

I truely have to agree with this statement. I found a chart about the effects of heat on transmissions and thought I would share it with you guy's.
