dexron 6, at the least. that is what is in the new GM trannsmissions. i have called royal purple at least 5 times now in regards to a possible better formulated recipe for the dexron 6, and they told me that dexron 6 is the best out there right now - dont bother using royal purple atf or anything else for that matter. i even spoke with some of royal purple chemists who told me the same thing, so i would say go with the dexron 6 if you are staying with the same 4l70e type internals that apparently work best with the thinner dexron 6.

hey NORCAL TBSS dont mean to jack up ur thread jus didnt want to post up a new thread for a quick question...i'm bout to install a new tranny and jus wanted to know if ne of u could tell me how many quarts i will need for this?

Dexron xi do a quick search on the web and see what other people thjink of it
GM replaced dexron iii with dexron xi, it is backwards compatiable. I had the tranny flushed with XI and I have a little quicker shifting and firmer.
