Default Tranny help for a confused teen????

Ok well I traded for a 1994 chevy silverado a while back. The truck has a built 350 and the previous owner changed it from a 4l60e to a 700r4. When this was done, he left the torque converter lockup unhooked. I have a plug that will fit on a 700r4 but the one for the 4l60e has more wires. How would I go about doing this?

How does he have a 700 in it? Is it using a detent cable to control the shifting? The 60e's that came in the 93-95's were fully pcm controlled electronically where the 700r's used a cable to control shifting.

Is this a carbed motor, tpi, tbi?

It's carbed and has the kick down cable...from what I understand, that controls the shifting?

kick down only controls the passing gear...does it have a vacume line on the pass side. if so that is what controls your shifting...it probly dont have a lock up converter

Wow, the last forum was completely wrong then haha...I'll have to check tomorrow but the truck doesn't shift right at all. It won't shift out until 3500-4000 rpms and I was told there was a shift kit in it but I don't think it would do that. Also the speedo doesn't work, tried the vss but still won't work. Any advice on that too?

Sounds like the previous owner was a *** backwards hack (read: custm2500) that was scared of the new stuff so just tossed in what he knew.

I would probably look into a painless wiring kit. This is a pretty easy solution and it comes with all you need to make it work.

I know this is late,

depending on how the kick down cable is set depends on when it will shift. the 700 uses hydo pressure to shift.

reset your kickdown cable and see what it does.

My 94 sonoma has a 60e trans. I think the 60e came out in 93.
