Tranny likes to be in the truck, won't come out ;)
I'm stuck... Tranny's stuck...
I've got everything disconnected, xfer case is off, TC is unbolted, tranny x member out, trans is supported by a trans jack, and no amount of pressure will walk that bad boy off the pins. I'm 315lbs and am a powerlifter... At one point I was pulling myself across the floor and the tranny wasn't moving.
It seems like the tranny jack is supporting the tranny "too high", but lowering the jack at all means the tranny is barely touching the jack and the jack moves freely. It appears the that midline of the tranny is no long parallel to the midline of the crank and when I pry on the bellhousing the very top of the bell is hitting the back of the block, although there's 1/2 of seperation on the bottom.
This is the first time I used a tranny jack... Seemed like a great idea although the trans + jack won't comeout from under the truck lol
Any ideas?

How long has that tranny been in there? There was another member awhile ago who was having a hell of a time getting his out, it had found a way over time to kind of attach itself to the block through oxidation or corrosion or something like that.

I got out the top bolt and have looked (and looked and looked) to make sure I didn't miss one. Where it seems to be sticking is right at the peak of the bell, but there's no fastener bung there -- its very weird. Looking at it from the top of the tranny (sighting down the tranny tunnel) there what look like 1/4" rubber hoses with white tips up there, but nothing else.
It's quite strange...
I've heard of guys needing a come-along for these things but can't remember the thread I read that in...

Is that the line for the vacuum mod kit that should be hooked up to a vacuum source? Trace it down and see if it goes to where the case connector is. If so you have been running around with max line pressure. Whoops.

I remember someone using a come-a-long to pull their trans off of the engine. The difference in metals seized the trans to the pins. If you have a good air chisel put a round flat ended bit into it and rattle it on the alignment dowels for a bit. PB blaster also helps, best penetrant ever. Good luck

This happened to me on my first engine swap. I ended up putting a prybar between the engine and bellhousing and whacking it with a hammer to separate the two. I gouged up the bellhousing a little but did the trick.
Helps to raise the engine just enough to rock it side to side while pulling forward too.
Good luck!
