the 5.3 tune has no bearing on the trans. The tune segments for the trans and engine are completely separate. Just tell your friend to paste a 5.3L tune into the file.

It's not labeled on the diagram, but U is between T and V, lol...if you cut V then you cut the wrong wire...I don't remember what color V was, but double-check to make sure you did it right.

I think there is a little bit of confusion happening here.

Baja, leave the 6.0 tune in the computer, but all the engine parameters need to be changed for the 5.3. You did the right thing in putting that 6.0/4l80e tune in the computer, now you just need to make sure the computer knows you have a 5.3 and not a 6.0.

And get that wire changed on the connector....

Need to get a Engine Segment swap for the 5.3/80E combo..

Also, the wiring is really simlple.. The last wire on the connector (brown), you take that and move it to where the White wire is.. no need in cutting or anything.

Add the Front VSS wires to the PCM and get the PCM flashed like its suppose to be with the Segment swap for the 5.3..

Not to jack, but how do ya leave a 6L tune in computer, while utilizing 5.3 parameters? Can u explain?

Oh ya, mods, can u move this to the GM Drivetrain Section?

EFI live has a tool where you can copy the engine parameters from another tune into yours. It takes literally 5, 10 seconds. I had to do it for mine. For example, I have a cable TB 6.0, so I needed a 6.0 tune for a cable TB, but all they had on the holden crazy repository was 6.0 tunes with ETC with the 4l60e. The only 6.0 tune I could use was with a 4l80e, so I simply used that tune and did a trans segment swap from a 2002 4l60e

GMCtrk, thanks for reply. So my guess is HPT doesn't have that. It seems EFI Live has some really good things HPT doesn't; & vice-versa.

HPtuners has a function to view, and copy, the differences between two tunes. I'm not a pro at it, but you should be able to load your tune (6.0) and then open a compare (5.3) tune. Go to the comparison log and copy over the differences.

Since the 6.0/4l80e tune you loaded was from a different vehicle I'm not sure how the licensing will work on this. If your tuner is doing it he shouldn't have a problem though.
