Default Tranny Troubles

Hey Guys, I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado Z71 4WD 5.3L RCSB. Anyway Sat. night I'm going to leave my house i go up the hill at the end of my road and the truck stutters I floor it then it just cuts out on me. So I get it started it's stuttering and bumblin up the road. Now I was driving earlier with no problems. So I'm like WTF! I get out look under the hood everything looks ok I have power, it is cranking but wont stay running. I finally get it running it runs like **** for about ten minutes. Then the idle smooths out and I try to drive. Its going ok for the first five feet I get on it so it does not stall and the engine revs up to like 5k but I'm not moving any faster. Now my tranny feels like its slipping in second so I think my trans is blown but would that have caused the other stalling problems? Please someone tel me this is how some transmissions die I drove it to work today and the tranny is definatly not right. Is my tranny toast? BTW it's a stocker w/90,000.

Josh

maybe someone with more experience will chime in on the engine dying, but it sounds like the 60 bit it. Giving it gas and nothing happens is definitely a sign.

Once you have got a good assessment of your problem...I have a fresh 4l60e...fresh meaning rebuilt...sitting in my garage I'll let you have for a VERY reasonable price...especially compared to rebuilding yours or a new one. I'll give you the local speed/trans shop that rebuilt this one so you can talk directly to them if you become interested. (it's outta my 2000 ECSB Z71 5.3 4X4...same trans as yours)

I already jumped the gun and bought the 4l65e level 5 from FLP but I'm no proffesional mechanic and had second thought about my diagnosis. So I guess I posted this to confirm what I originaly thought. I hate second guessing myself.

Maybe a problem with the maf sensor or,if the throttle position sensor failed either will make your trans act screwy, should have had it diagnosed before spendy big money.
