Default trans fluid (i searched)

Like i said guys i searched several options, didnt find what i was after.

I re-installed my trans, i filled the converter, now what is the most common procedure, i think i heard from a friend 5 quarts immediatly, fire the engine, check level and go from there. sound avout right?

Sounds easy but i want to know how much fluid the 60e holds with a stock pan? I will be working on it in the middle of no-where at my old mans shop, i need to make sure i have enough fluid with me.

thanks BLAKE

I just bought 2 jugs of the cheap stuff from autozone. I filled up the converter like you did. Filled up the transmission to the full line, then fired it up and let it run for about a minute then filled it appropriately 2 times afterwards. I've done it like that 3 times now.

Not really much method to the madness, but I basically try and fit as much in it cold as I can(within reason obviously), then fill as needed.

The autozone brand transmission fluid. Very few transmission builders recommend using synthetic transmission fluid with a built transmission.

jack up the rear end, fill with 6 quarts in the pan. start vehicle, run throught the gears and add 2-3 more quarts. check levels and add more if needed.
