Default Trans help needed!!

tranny # 4 let go on the way home last night turning my 3 hour ride into 6. It's a 4l65e behind an 800 horse 6.0 in a 2001 gmc C3 ext cab with awd.

I like the awd for the snow, but I'm tired of the short life of the 4l65e. Can a 4l80e be adapted to the awd? Made into a 2wd or 4wd w/o breaking the bank? Is the 6l80e doable??

At this point I'm ready to get rid of the turbo and go back to a nice 450hp n/a engine so that the tranny might live. With the 2 camaros, do I really need a low 12 second truck (and another money pit??)

Suggestions???????????

Yes the 4l80 is doable with the awd case. We have done a couple. Give us a call and ask for chuck.
As far as the 6l80e I wouldn't even consider it because it's to new and I'm really not sure how good the trans is from what I've seen.

slightly off topic, but what about a 4l80e mated up to the new TBSS AWD case (Torsen T3)?

Here's a pic:

"As we've already mentioned, the TrailBlazer SS routes its power to each set of wheels via a single-range full-time transfer case. The magic is achieved via the use of a Torsen T-3 limited-slip differential, which uses a series of gears to smoothly bias drivetrain torque. In this case, 67% of the available torque is routed to the rear wheels, but that can be limited to 55% or increased to 75%, depending on available traction. Oversteer fans will find that enjoying their craft isn't totally ruled-out by this AWD system"

I was thinking down the road(way down the road) about throwing that transfer case on my 2500HD, I'm already set-up for everything else

"thinking out loud" how does an AWD lowered 2500HD w/1500 suspension sound?, having the nice ride of the 1500's, with the strength of the 2500HD's

If you are afraid of breaking a t-case, I would advise an Atlas II Transfer Case, pretty must indistructable. The Atlas has the capablility of doing a front wheel burnout just like the ricers, if you wanted.

Is this Atlas II t/case available for the 32 spline output of the 80? I don't have any personal expierence with these t/cases, I'll have to research them for compatibility with the 60 and 80 output shafts.
I was also thinking about the new Torsen T-3 TBSS awd case like moregrip mentioned, this might a option for guys doing the 80 swap in the future. You would still have use the modified 80 output like I mentioned before.
