trans overheating with 40k cooler?
I recently put a tru-cool 40k trans cooler on my truck because i was having trouble with it getting hot. I installed it and took it out for a drive and after 20-30 mins. of stop and go the trans is at 190 degrees again. I checked everything over and made sure that the lines weren't blocked and everything looks good. My question is why is my trans still getting hot? This is on a '99 silverado with an 80e swap, 6.0, and a 3200 PI triple disk converter. BTW the temp outside was somewhere around 25 degrees. Any help is appreciated. This unit has a vaccum modulator.

80E's run quite a bit hotter temps than 60/65E's. Also, are you getting your trans temp reading from the cluster, or a scan tool? There's been a few threads regarding inaccurate trans temp gauges after a swap. I think they were replacing parts, but not getting the issue resolved.

I am getting my readings from an EFIlive scan tool. I've heard that 80e's run hotter but really this much with a 40k cooler and 25 degree weather? I also have another gauge hooked up to the pressure port and its within 10 degrees of the scan tool. I can the tell by touching the cooler that the oil is warm on the side where its coming in and as i move accross it gets colder and the other side seems cold. I took the returning line off and started the truck for a couple of seconds and the oil that came out was completely cold.
