hmm i cant remember. I know there was a previous issue with the spring not fitting into the sonnax accumulator piston but i think it might've been redesigned because i didnt have that issue. Mine has been going strong for almost 2 years. We did the same piston on my friends truck and his is still going strong too.

IIRC doesnt the seat go onto the housing side? and the accumulator piston is machined with a spring seat in it just like the pinned accumulators? Its been awhile since i've been inside it.

I am assuming this is the plastic piston close to an 1" in diameter that when installed with the transgo supplied spring and optional thick washers was not very friendly to get back in.

And according to the directions was installed backwards?

Vince do you have a link to one that I need? I found the pinless one on Ebay item number 290420018573

Oregon performance has the small pin one, but I didnt see the pin or where it goes.

I appreciate all the inputs.

Yes the seat does go against the housing side. However if you do not use the supplied washers or at least one, then the gold spring seat will be down in the bore like you have mentioned and it gets bent up with use. Also by doing what you did the over all length of the piston travel bore in theory is increased. With this happening at times the springs will not be supported the way that they were designed to work. Like I said I have seen the housing, gold spring seat, accumulator piston and the springs get damaged by doing this.

I dont remember messing with a pin out of this accumulator. Been a month since the install, and I have trouble remembering what I had for dinner the night prior.

So to be on the safe side, I will order 2 solenoids, aluminum accumulator piston and aluminum forward piston. Anything else while I am at it?

Its just stronger than the stock separator plate. My stock one had the checkball holes warn on it with only 40k on the trans.
