Transfer case - can anyone tell me what this piece is??

This fell out of the rear section of the transfer case when I dropped the rear output shaft out earlier. I can't figure out where it goes. Key is for size reference.

I bet ya your transfer case is missing this .

BTW I don't know why that came out, I don't think it should. I pretty sure it is used to take up the slack on the t-case pump assy.

Yep thats peice falls out I just left it out because I figured it was probbably going to fall out and get caught in something anyway. I didnt worry about it
