Default Transfer case info

Still gatherin parts for my 4l80e swap in the 2003 z71 tahoe.

Right now it has the NP246 GM auto trak.
I havent had any dealings with transfer cases except the NP241 i did in the Samurai.

So here is my question....

Can i use a non autotrak?

Or is there something funny about the automatic 4wd?

NP205, NP201, NP246 I believe were all factory installed at one point behind the 4L80E.

I believe only the NP246 is the electronic unit while the other's are manually engaged. There may have been a BW unit in the later years like 07 up but I am not sure on those.

246 or 241 if I'm not mistaken. I can look it up on Monday, I don't have a computer at home. Either one would live forever in your Sammy. Do you want a floor or electric shift t-case?

You can get a 32 spine input gear for the case you already have for about $150 IIRC.

Depending on the year and the Code there was NV243C, NV246C, NV263C

I believe the C at the end is specific to the GM brand as some of these were used in other brands like dodge and the jeep line up.

I believe the electronic RPO codes for GM were NP1 and NP8

NP1 was NV243 in 96-00
NP1 was NV263 in 01-06
NP8 was NV246 in 99-06

These were also available in both 27 spline for the 4L60E and 32 spline for the 4L80E using the same code.

This is the info I found online through various site's and dismantlers. So don't shoot me if i'm wrong.

Yeah, I think you're right. And the 263 was the electric shift without auto trak, right?

You'd need the correct harness and TCCM. That's it as far as I know.
