Transfer case questions
I have a leak at the transfer case. In the seam that's in the center of the case.
What is involved in changing that? I can turn a wrench just fine, and have swapped motors and trannys in my Camaro, so I'm sure I can take this out. But what about pulling it apart? Is this as simple as removing the bolts on the case, pulling it into half, and replacing a seal? That's probably too easy to be an option.
What about using Dexron III in it? I don't really know of anybody having problems from using it, but see everyone saying to use the GM. Is there any real-world experience? Or just BS internet theorists regurgitating theory without reality? Just making sure. You know how the internet can be sometimes.

you will have no problem replacing that seal - i personally have never done it, but i know that the transfer case uses a chain and spocket setup. There are a few fellas on here who might chime in to help out.
as for the Dexron III.....i used it when i pulled my case and tranny last spring - i never use my 4X4 but i have had no issues with it...
