Default transfer case questions......AWD/4WD

I really like the idea of AWD.....however.....there was never an option for it on the HD's......I like the idea of a simple system that's strong.....nothing electrical....what options do I have?

Im putting the NP243 behind my 80 and boosted 409. It is electric shift but that doesnt effect the strength of it.

Send a pm to Midnight. He just swapped his truck to AWD, and is planning a future 4L80E transplant as well. I think he knows all the parts needed.

the nv149 is all mechanical/viscous coupler. only has a vss sensor for the speedO. thats what i have. i believe the tbss t-case is suppose to be stronger or as strong. but something is different that makes it a not direct bolt in. i can't remember what. maybe front shaft length or something. don't use the borg warner cases from like esky and the like. they use an open diff that has to be coupled with a 4 channel abs to force it to transfer power.

I would have to think that an AWD Tcase from a Denali truck would be fine in your 2500HD.

The denali comes factory with a 6.0, beefier rear end, is a heavier truck compared to a regular 1/2 ton as we all know, , so its very similar to your setup now.

I also was told the NV149 is the only AWD Tcase you want, The Borg warner units seem to make the truck " buck and bounce" under a Lot of power.

it depends on what year for the denali and esky. some years had the borg warner some years had the nv149.

Wow!!! Some of yalls statements are wrong to every point. I ran a borg warner case for over a year and made over 550 to the wheels with my setup and my truck never bucked or bounced. It will barely haze the front tires sometimes or if i left with too much boost but 99.9% it would just squat and haul a$$. Go look at my 7psi video. You will see how much it "bucks and bounces". You can hear it barely spin and shoot to 50mph.

Thats good man, i hope your Tcase works good for ya! Iam only commenting on what ive been told.

BTW I was doing investigation for my truck possibly swapping inn an AWD case. I was told the ratio of the NV 149 would be better suited for a torquey Blower setup like i have, I see your turbo, maybe thats the difference when the power comes on.
