There used to be a guy (not sure if it was here or Silverado SS board) that made them.. they were $300-350-ish.. The NP149 was never behind an 80e like the NP246 and other T-cases were. As I understand it, the internals are completely different because the AWD case is a single speed case.. If you find a source please let me know.. I'd love to have one as well and I dont even have a T-case...... yet.

The problem I have is, I don't have the T-case (haven't seen one reasonably priced), so I don't even have a core to send him.
I am still debating on what I want to do, I scored a 6l80e and an BW T-case out of an Escalade that only had 29k on it.. I've been considering running that instead...

The borgwarner works best when stock. The differential is open like a one wheel peal rear. It uses the brakes to transfer the power. I mean it will work but under big tire spin it's not the greatest and its not know for strength. I'm using my stock bw4482 right now because the viscous coupler went bad in my 149 case. I figure ill leave it in there so I can send off my core while its down for the 32spline. Then when I'm ready ill buy a new coupler.

Interesting, I hadn't heard this about the BorgWarner T-case, I am not doubting what you are saying I am just a bit surprised. When I owned my GMC Typhoon it had a BorgWarner 4472 T-case in it and they are pretty decent.. I mean guys have broken them but that seems to be more if an exception than the rule.. There's guys putting plenty of power to them (one guy is in the 8 second range and a bunch in the low 10s, high 9's) with not a complaint. It was a 70/30 power split in that case and they've even retrofitted (replaced) the input shaft that allows installing behind a 4L80e. Is there any additional information available on the newer case that I can read up on? I just assumed it was similar to the Sy/Ty case.
I would love to have a NP 149 because I've heard they are pretty stout, but I am not going to break the bank to acquire one since I will just want to go through it anyhow.

Getting ready to do this. was going to take it somewhere to get done, but hell its easy enough with this write up. For that inner seal, just look up transfer case seal at napa for my truck and get them both? I never saw a part number for that.
