Transgo problem, please help...
I just finished the transgo HD-2 install, I checked and double checked everything in the instructions before I bolted up the pan and reinstalled the exhaust. Now I have major problems, Park and reverse work good, when I put it in drive the trans is stuck in 3rd and will not shift. I can manully put it in 2ed or 3rd and holds this gears just fine. The major problem is when I put the gear selector into 1st, it locks the gear train. When I first started the truck after the install I shifted through the gears and grabed 1st gear good when I put in into drive then tried reverse and grabed good, then drove off the ramps and when I put in back into drive it would only go into 3rd and that is where the trans stays. Guys please help, I don't know what this could be.

As James said you have a solenoid problem. With the trans-go kit because it has the gear command feature, in low it will lock the gear train. I have proven this on the Dyno. Basically your trans is in limp mode. Do a scan and I'm sure it will tell you which solenoid is unplugged or damaged. Let us know what you find. Vince

I do remember hooking up all the solenoids and checking them, The thing that gets me about this is the trans went into 1st gear the first time I put it into drive, then the second time I put into drive it will only go in 3rd and stay there, no manual 1st gear this locks the drive triain. It is to late today to drop the pan because of removale of the headers and ORY pipe. I can only drive in 2ed and 3rd by manualy shiffting it. In drive it WILL NOT automaticaly shift, just holds 3rd gear. It might be a few days before I can drop the pan agine. I hope my trans holds together for the next few days until I can get under it one more time. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Thanks for the advise Vince, unfortunately I have to drive it to work tomarrow, I'm going to be very easy on it. If it was not such a pain in the *** to remove the exhaust just drop the trans pan I would be under there right now. I'm glad to hear that it might be just a solenoid and nothing to major. The sales you have on your transmissions right now at FLT sounds better and better to me as I think about my transmission and how I don't what to touch it anymore, I should just get a built one and be done with it.

If you need one in the future you know who to call. At this point I do not think that you need one. This should be a cheap fix just have to get the strength to get back under it. You let me know if you need anything. Vince

Thanks for the help and quick replies, I'm going to try and get a transmission scan tomarrow or Tuesday and see what solenoid is acting up and get one. Is there anything else that might cause this kind of problem that I'm having? When I have to dig into this trans again I want it to be the last time. I will give you a call if I need anything in the future Vince. Thanks again for all the help.

It sounds to me that you either damaged one of the solenoids or just did not get it plugged in all the way or correctly. I have seen guy's not get the pressure control solenoid plugged in with both tabs into the solenoid. Like I said get it scanned and go from there. Vince

Well I will get it scaned and see what the problem is and then I will let you know so I can correct it. The only thing is that I might not be able to drop the trans pan until next weekend, That will mean I'm going to have to drive the truck about 20 miles a day manually shifting 2ed and 3rd gear ONLY. I'm going to take good care and baby it, but I hope it holds together.
