Default Transmission Experts!!

I got a funny one for ya......I took my truck along with my new performabuilt trans/converter down to the local trans shop to get it installed.....I get a call about 20 min ago from the 70 yr old secretary. she says "Mr. Holland are you aware of what they sent you? Are you planning on driving this on the road? With this torque converter you are going to have lots of issues! Are you under the impression this converter will make your truck faster?" I told her, "Yes mam i am completely aware of what is in there and i understand what im doing. Dont worry its under warranty through the trans company." She said.... "ok sir but i want you to know this is not a good idea and will absolutly not make your truck any faster.... This comming from a lady this morning who tried to find a sticker on my KN&N FIPK to figure out what liter motor i had. LOL

I look at it this way....if i were to get say a "dealership" to do the install, they woud tell me the same thing. I believe this particullar trans shop is fully capable of doing the install, hell its not that hard if you have a lift and the proper tools. I just think they dont know squat about "performabuilt transmissions" they are unaware of what exactly they're installing.

Just stall up that converter and leave some black marks in front of the shop to ensure proper installation.

I like when a customer takes one of units to get it refreshed to a local shop and the guy doing the work is like WTF is this. I have never seen parts like this. Then we get a call......how do we do this? I think the answer should be put it in a box and ship it back so it's done right! As mentioned many shops when they see stall converters get nervous. I can actually appreciate the fact that they did call you to inform you of what was going on. At least this way everyone is on the same page and its OK for them to continue with the scheduled program. Good luck with the new trans. Vince
